The Soustons Sports Centre welcomed six international women’s rugby sevens teams!
Training, physical preparation, building team spirit, friendlies.

Let’s see what Aiden McNulty and David Courteix thought about it…

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE?

We are here at the training centre (Isle Verte Sports Centre) with the French women’s rugby sevens team. We are exploring several different ways of playing so we are facing off against different teams.

Why did you choose this place?

We were invited by the French. David told us he was coming down to spend two weeks and we couldn’t refuse the invitation.

DAVID COURTEIX, COACH OF THE FRENCH WOMEN’S RUGBY SEVENS TEAM

We had a good training camp at Marcoussis where we put in an awful lot of work and here, we are getting back to rugby by inviting a certain number of foreign teams to prepare for forthcoming competitions.

We like to give meaning to our training and, to this end, the atmosphere counts for a great deal.  The fact that we don’t have to travel a lot, that we can find everything we need on-site and are given a very warm welcome as well as an environment that lends itself to calm and contemplation.  This means that we can focus on the sports side of things and enjoy spending time together.  Beyond what we do on the field, it is important for the group, for its life and for constructing future objectives.

AND WHAT ABOUT YOU Aiden McNulty ?

It’s beautiful, we really like it here. The girls have just come back from stand-up paddling. Yesterday, we were at the swimming pool, later we’ll go tree climbing.

Forthcoming competitions

We are working towards the World Rugby Sevens Series in Langford, Canada, then we will be trying to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa and then the Olympics in Paris.
