The Capbreton Preparation Centre was delighted to welcome our neighbours from USDAX for their summer training camp. A local interlude to continue working together in ideal conditions. It was also an opportunity for some of the young players to retrace the steps of their rugby schools and thank the volunteers and coaches who had supported them right up to the threshold of ProD2, where Dax was able to give them a chance to shine. A wonderful circle, combining performance with a return to one’s roots and the very origins of rugby! We’re happy to come here because there are great facilities and also because of the Dax Ferias. We know that the pitches are closed every year.

It’s really nice to work in conditions like these. We’ve been here several times in winter, so it’s lovely weather now. All the equipment and everything is here. It’s brilliant. The pitches are top-notch. So for us, it’s great to come and train here. It gives us a change of scenery.

It’s a low-key match, but against a well-organised opposition; there aren’t any proper tackles, but there’s plenty of running and the ball is in play a lot.

I think we’ve worked hard; there’s a really good atmosphere, we’ve kept the core of last year’s squad, and a few new players have come in to strengthen the team. But it bodes well. So, the scoreboard’s been wiped clean – it’s up to us to get off to a good start.

It’s about continuing to try and play good rugby. Winning as many matches as possible to stay in Pro D2 – which is a great division but a tough one – and avoiding relegation. And if the stars happen to align, doing a bit better than we did last year.
